McLouth Waterfront Alliance

Advocating for a sustainable future for Trenton's waterfront and beyond.

Make your voice heard

Our tax money is at work at sites like the Riverview Land Preserve, McLouth Steel in Trenton and elsewhere around Downriver. Doesn't that mean you should have a say in what happens next?

Our mission

Industrial business threatens our environment. It's our mission to thwart that threat while we have a chance to shape our community’s future.

We believe it's our duty to promote sustainable solutions at properties like the McLouth Steel NPL Superfund site in Trenton, Michigan and the Riverview Land Preserve.

To that end, we serve as a resource to you — residents, government officials and businesses — to help foster a new vision for Downriver.

How we can make an impact

Industrialization in our communities causes health problems, costs us money and prevents us from creating jobs that generate wealth for residents and cities alike.

Economic prosperity is proven to come from a healthy environment in the 21st century. Together, we can make it happen.

Focusing on Downriver’s future

MWA has chosen to focus on the transition of several industrial developments that will impact our health, our environment, and our economic development prospects for generations to come. The McLouth Steel Superfund Site, DTE Trenton Channel Power Plant, and the Riverview Land Preserve (landfill) impact our daily lives in a variety of ways.

Success stories

When people have all of the information, the answer is obvious. We want what’s best for our families, neighbors and friends. We may disagree on the best way to get there, but we’re all in this together.

When you make your voice heard, you can make a difference. It’s a marathon — and every step you take helps our communities achieve our goals. Take a look at the change we’ve already made by showing up.

How our air quality measures up

Exactly how does all this industry affect our health? One way we can measure is by monitoring air quality. We recently installed several monitors surrounding the Riverview Land Preserve. We hope this data will help the community better understand the landfill's impact.
